Sara McCandless
Sara was born in Sterling, Illinois. At the age of 8 she and her family moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where she spent the rest of her childhood. During that time Sara and her family travel extensively through South America, specially Colombia because of an immense interest in Latin culture. Sara has a B.A. in Spanish from Mary Baldwin College. After living in Madrid, Spain for several years Sara and her husband decided to move to Costa Rica. Sara´s parents had purchased farm land in the northern areas of Costa Rica and that is where they landed in the mid 1970s. Sara and her family moved to the Central Valley a few years later where she continued to raise her family.
Sara still works as a language teacher teaching both English and Spanish to all age groups. Her work experience is vast and includes private classes, private schools and universities as well as working in several multinational companies. Besides teaching Sara is also a business owner and manages several businesses in Costa Rica.
After so many years living in Costa Rica Sara`s knowledge, experience, connections and resources are extremely valuable to anyone needing guidance or assistance.

Cristina Rodriguez
Cristina was born and raised in Costa Rica outside San José in the town of Heredia. Although her parents are long time expats she feels 100% tica. During her young adult life she enjoyed traveling and spent time in many countries around the world.
Cristina has a BS in Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Costa Rica. After graduation she lived in Budapest, Hungary with her husband. When she returned to Costa Rica she opened children swim schools in Heredia and in Alajuela. She spent several years managing her company until 2020 when the company was sold.
Cristina currently lives in San Mateo, (a small town 45 minutes west of San José) with her husband and 2 boys in a beautiful eco community. It is in this community where the idea for Costa Rica Expat began.
Cristina´s life and work experiences of owning a business, being a mother and living her everyday life in Costa Rica will provide real information that will help anyone planning a relocation.

Carolina Rodriguez
Carolina is the youngest sister of the family. She was born and raised in Costa Rica outside of San José in the mountains of Heredia.
Carolina followed her artistic nature and first studied Interior Design in Costa Rica. Later she chose to continue her studies and majored in Hotel Management and Business Administration from Le Roche University in Switzerland.
When she returned to Costa Rica she worked for many years in the airline industry where she developed her skills in administration and quality service. At present, Carolina lives in the San José area in the suburbs of Escazú with her husband and 2 young daughters.
Carolina has always had a keen focus in customer service and attention to detail. These characteristics will help anyone feel supported and taken well care of through their relocation journey.
